Interim Financial Controller
Location: Oxford
Contract: Interim, initially 3–6 months
Reporting to: Director of Finance / Bursar
An established education provider in Oxford is seeking a qualified Interim Financial Controller to provide hands-on financial leadership during a period of change.
The role will take responsibility for monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, financial controls, audit preparation, statutory reporting and oversight of the day-to-day finance function. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to an upcoming ERP system upgrade, including process review, data readiness and finance input into system design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end, management accounts and financial reporting.
- Maintain strong balance sheet controls and reconciliations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
- Coordinate year-end and external audit requirements.
- Oversee core finance operations and support the finance team.
- Improve finance processes, controls and reporting.
- Provide finance expertise during the ERP upgrade.
- Support senior leaders and budget holders with financial analysis.

Candidate Profile
- Fully qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent.
- Recent experience gained within education, such as a school, college, academy trust or similar organisation.
- Strong financial control, reporting and audit experience.
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on interim role.
- Experience of finance systems or ERP implementation would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of charity accounting and the Charities SORP is highly desirable.
- Able to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders and senior leadership.
