This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company at a pivotal stage of its journey, where you'll play a key role in helping shape the finance function that will support our continued international expansion.
The Role
We're looking for an ambitious, hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of our financial reporting, commercial strategy, controls, multi entity consolidations and compliance across our international business.
This is a pivotal role within a fast-growing, entrepreneurial company operating across multiple territories. You'll ensure our financial reporting is accurate, our controls are robust, and our reporting delivers meaningful commercial insights that support strategic decision-making.
This role goes beyond traditional financial reporting. We're looking for someone with a strong commercial mindset who can partner with the wider business to drive performance, improve efficiency and support continued growth. You'll play a key role in implementing and optimising ERP systems, identifying opportunities to leverage AI and automation across the finance function, and introducing scalable processes that enable the business to operate more effectively as we grow.
Working closely with the Head of Commercial Finance, CFO and senior leadership team, you'll become a trusted business partner, combining strong technical accounting expertise with commercial acumen, systems thinking and a passion for continuous improvement.

What Success Looks Like (First 12-18 Months)
- An AI-powered finance and accounting platform is successfully implemented, alongside scalable finance systems and ERP solutions that automate key processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Month-end reporting is completed accurately and on time with minimal manual intervention.
- Financial reporting and commercial insights are trusted, timely and support better strategic decision making.
- Group consolidations across all international entities are completed accurately and efficiently each month.
- Robust financial controls and governance are embedded across every entity.
- Tax and statutory compliance is consistently achieved across all territories.

Key Responsibilities
AI Powered Systems & Process Improvement
- Lead the migration from Xero to a fully integrated ERP platform, defining finance system requirements alongside key stakeholders.
- Drive automation, standardisation and AI adoption across the finance function to improve reporting, reduce manual processes and increase operational efficiency.
Financial Reporting & Financial Control
- Own the monthly close process across all entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Produce monthly management accounts, board reporting, KPI dashboards and continually improve the monthly reporting pack using Xero and Fathom.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and appropriately supported.
- Develop and maintain a strong financial control environment.
- Lead annual audit preparation and manage relationships with external auditors.
- Maintain accounting policies and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Group Finance & International Operations
- Lead monthly consolidation across the UK, UAE, Netherlands and USA businesses.
- Manage all intercompany accounting, reconciliations and eliminations.
- Ensure accurate foreign currency accounting and multi-currency reporting.
- Coordinate statutory accounts, manage relationships with international tax advisers and ensure VAT, corporation tax and all other statutory filings are completed accurately and on time across all jurisdictions.
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Analyse business performance, profitability and margins, providing meaningful commentary and commercial insights alongside monthly results.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning through financial modelling and scenario analysis for strategic initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and cash generation.
- Partner with operational leaders to support commercial decision-making.
- Challenge spending and identify cost-saving opportunities across the business.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Monitor and optimise cash flow, working capital performance, cash forecasting and liquidity planning.
- Oversee inventory accounting and stock reconciliations where applicable.
- Support credit control and supplier payment processes.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, develop and lead a scalable finance function, recruiting and developing additional team members as the business grows.
- Manage and coach the overseas bookkeeper.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and high performance.

Experience & Expertise
We're looking for someone who combines technical accounting excellence with commercial thinking and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
You'll ideally bring:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- 5+ years' post-qualified experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance position.
- Experience within e-commerce, retail, consumer goods, FMCG or another fast-growing, multi-entity business.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience preparing consolidated management accounts across multi-currency international group structures.
- Experience with Xero (Fathom experience would be advantageous).
- Proven experience implementing ERP systems and improving finance processes, controls, reporting and automation, including the use of AI tools.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders and support strategic decision-making.
- Experience managing audits, statutory reporting and tax compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills with confidence analysing large data sets.
