Financial Controller - Edgbaston Hotel, Birmingham | Full-Time / Permanent
Up to £55000 + excellent benefits including healthcare, wellbeing support, 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, life assurance, meals on duty, and more.
Role purpose...
To provide financial leadership, commercial insight and robust financial governance for the Radisson RED Hotel Edgbaston. Working closely with the General Manager, Hotel, EEL Sub-Committee and wider Edgbaston stakeholders, the Financial Controller will support profitable growth, challenge business performance, and ensure the delivery of accurate financial reporting and effective financial controls.

Financial Controller - The Role
Financial Leadership & Governance
- Lead the financial management and control framework for the hotel, ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting standards and brand requirements.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy and timely delivery of financial information.
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls and accounting procedures, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support internal and external audit requirements and promote best practice financial governance.
- Work collaboratively with the Profit Protection Team and wider stakeholders to minimise financial risk and protect business assets.
Financial Planning, Reporting & Analysis
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes for the hotel.
- Produce insightful management reporting that supports informed decision-making and drives business performance.
- Analyse financial results, key performance indicators and operational trends, providing clear recommendations to management.
- Challenge assumptions, forecasts and business plans to ensure financial accuracy and commercial robustness.
- Identify emerging risks, opportunities and performance trends through effective financial analysis.

Commercial Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted finance partner to the General Manager and hotel leadership team.
- Provide commercial insight and challenge to improve profitability, operational performance and return on investment.
- Support the evaluation of capital expenditure, investment opportunities and new revenue streams.
- Work with operational leaders to understand cost drivers, identify efficiencies and improve financial performance.
- Support the development of business plans and strategic initiatives that contribute to long-term growth.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Build effective working relationships across EEL, TVC, WCCC, Levy, Radisson, Keith Prowse and the wider Edgbaston team.
- Present financial performance and key business insights to senior stakeholders and governance groups.
- Collaborate with central finance functions, including credit control, to support cash flow and working capital management.
- Ensure financial information is communicated clearly and effectively to both finance and non-finance audiences.
- Support a culture of accountability and commercially informed decision-making across the hotel operation.
Continuous Improvement & Business Performance
- Drive improvements in financial processes, reporting and forecasting methodologies.
- Support the development of management information that enables faster and more effective decision-making.
- Use data and performance analysis to identify opportunities for efficiency, profitability and operational improvement.
- Encourage innovation and best practice across financial and commercial activities.
- Ensure reporting and performance measures remain aligned with strategic and operational objectives.
Essential
What we're looking for
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or equivalent
- Significant post-qualification finance experience.
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
- Strong commercial and financial analysis skills.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and non-finance managers.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

- Experience within hospitality, hotels, leisure, venue or service-led environments.
- Experience working within a matrix or multi-stakeholder organisation.
- Experience supporting capital investment appraisal and business cases.
