Financial Controller
Nottingham | Hybrid Working | £75,000 - £85,000 + Bonus + Benefits
A highly successful and growing East Midlands business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance function and play a key role in the organisation's future growth and development. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional looking to step into a broad leadership role with genuine long-term career progression.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will lead an established finance team, oversee all aspects of financial control and reporting, and partner with stakeholders across the business to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement. The position forms part of a long-term succession plan and offers significant scope for future progression.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for leading the financial control, reporting, governance and operational finance activities of the business, ensuring robust financial stewardship and providing timely, insightful financial information to support decision-making across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes
- Managing the month-end and year-end close
- Maintaining a strong financial control and governance framework
- Leading and developing an established finance team
- Managing external audit relationships and statutory reporting
- Overseeing cash flow management and treasury activities
- Providing commercial insight and analysis to support business performance
- Partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation
- Driving continuous improvement across finance processes, systems and controls
- Supporting a significant finance systems transformation project

About You
We are interested in speaking with ambitious finance leaders who can demonstrate:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Significant post-qualified experience in financial control, reporting or finance leadership roles
- Experience managing and developing finance teams
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
- Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering skills
- Commercial awareness and the ability to influence decision-making
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and change
Experience within financial services or other regulated environments would be advantageous but is not essential. Exposure to IFRS 9, treasury activities or finance systems implementations would also be beneficial.
