Financial Controller - Manchester

JSS are pleased to be exclusively supporting our client, a high growth UK subsidiary of a leading international business on the recruitment of a newly created Financial Controller role based in Manchester. This is an ideal role for a fully qualified Finance Manager or Controller with experience managing month end and year end, balance sheet, management reporting and audit in a fast growing SME business.

Role Overview

The Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day financial management of the business, ensuring accurate month end reporting, robust controls, strong cash flow management, and compliance with statutory requirements. As a key member of the finance leadership team, the role will provide commercial insight to support business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial controls, policies and procedures.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and oversee ledger integrity.
  • Lead the annual statutory accounts process and external audit.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Produce rolling forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Provide detailed commentary on business performance and key financial drivers.
  • Optimise working capital, including debtor, creditor and inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, VAT, tax and regulatory requirements.

Profile & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Proven Manager or Controller experience within an SME or growing business environment
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls and UK accounting standards
  • Experience managing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow
