Financial Controller/Head of Finance | Fixed Term Contract/Temporary | Blackpool | Circa £65k
The Role
Trostan Dene is supporting an established business in Blackpool that is looking for a Financial Controller to oversee their finance function while a permanent placement is made. Expected time frame until at least the end of February 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, controls, and the chart of accounts.
- Manage the balance sheet, cash flow, financial risks, and currency exposure.
- Oversee the accounting function and outsourced services, including Payroll and HR.
- Manage AP, AR, payroll, banking, debt payments, and commission reporting.
- Maintain relationships with banks, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
- Produce timely management accounts, Group reports, and financial/operational KPIs.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis.
- Coordinate statutory accounts, annual reporting, VAT, tax, and other compliance requirements.
- Provide financial analysis and commercial support for pricing, contracts, and business decisions.
- Oversee ESG reporting, insurance/facilities renewals, and GDP compliance requirements.

What We’re Looking For
- Progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Strong commercial awareness, business partnering, and client relationship skills.
- Proactive and confident in challenging assumptions and driving improvements and profitability.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills across functions.
- Advanced Excel and MS Office skills, including designing and maintaining financial spreadsheets.
- Highly organized, able to prioritize, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Package & Benefits
- Salary: Circa £65,000
- Hybrid working (1 day from home) after probationary period
- Working hours (35 hours) 9am – 5pm (1 hour lunch) – some flexibility given on start/finish times
- Hybrid working (2 days from home) from December
- Free onsite parking
