Job Opportunity: Financial Controller

I have been exclusively retained by a well-established and rapidly growing manufacturing business to recruit an ambitious Financial Controller for a newly created leadership role based in Liverpool.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a business that has recently invested in a state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility equipped with industry-leading technology. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the finance function, supporting operational excellence, and driving continued business growth.

Initially, you will have responsibility for the financial management of two legal entities with a combined annual turnover of approximately £65 million. As the organisation continues to expand, there is significant potential for the role to broaden in scope, offering genuine career progression for the right individual.

This position would suit a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is motivated by continuous improvement, business partnering, and building scalable processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of financial control across two operating entities.
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts and associated reporting packs.
  • Deliver budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, governance, and compliance across the business.
  • Partner closely with operational and commercial teams to improve financial performance.
  • Provide insightful analysis of manufacturing costs, margins, and operational KPIs.
  • Support inventory management, stock control, and working capital optimisation.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Manage the year-end audit process and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Develop and mentor members of the finance team.
  • Support strategic projects, business integration, and future acquisitions or site expansions as the business grows.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Ideal Candidate

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong technical accounting skills and a proactive, commercial mindset. You are someone who enjoys taking ownership, influencing operational decision-making, and identifying opportunities to improve performance rather than simply reporting historical results.

You will ideally possess:

  • Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Strong Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager experience.
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing environment (essential).
  • Exposure to distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with inventory, standard costing, and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Excellent business partnering and stakeholder management skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to challenge existing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience implementing or improving finance systems and reporting processes would be beneficial.
  • A hands-on approach with the ambition to grow alongside the business.
