IM is seeking a Financial Controller to take responsibility for the accounting, reporting, planning, analysis and controls of the IMUK profit centre and Japan JV. The role will be responsible for the P&L, the Balance sheet and Financial controls of IMUK, alongside the reporting & controls of the smaller Japan JV. The Financial Controller is also the key commercial finance business partner to the Portfolio team, providing insight, challenge & partnering to deliver value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for the timely preparation, reporting and analysis of P&L performance and balance sheets each period for IMUK and Japan; also to include the quarterly forecasting and budgeting process to meet IM and TwO group reporting requirements and timelines.
- Preparation of spreadsheet analysis, and graphical outputs to help illustrate financial trends and reports to assist in the analysis of actuals vs targets and previous years’ performance.
- Accountable for the preparation and insightful analysis of variances (sales, PVM, A&P and overhead spend variances), to include the key commercial drivers of performance.
- Accountable for the IMUK balance sheet forecast and understanding of working capital variances.
- Accountable for the Debtors ledger and credit control of IMUK, supporting the Head of Finance in managing business risk, and also for the IMUK and Japan Anti Bribery and Corruption (ABC) agenda embedding compliance and monitoring of IMs regulatory environment.
- Accountable for FX hedging in line with internal policies, ensuring hedges are placed periodically to maintain coverage in line with latest policy.
- Responsible for Managing, coaching, supporting and developing the Management Accountant day- to-day and also in overseeing their role in completing key tasks such as system reconciliations, maintenance of the IM fixed asset register and their SAP key user responsibilities.
- Supports the Head of Portfolio in the business performance management of the Portfolio region, to include;
- Financial tracking of Portfolio performance, weekly and monthly
- Identifying risks and opportunities for proactive management through analysis e.g. ytd/ytg, sales phasing, YOY performance
- Working with the team to ensure the quarterly forecast and budgets are based on robust assumptions and revised as appropriate (and in a timely manner)
- Provide proactive commercial finance challenge and support across the Portfolio team.

- You will be a qualified practice trained accountant, with at least 3 years post-qualification experience
- You will have previous line management experience
- You will have a strong experience of financial controls and compliance
- Experience in fast-paced Consumer Products businesses advantageous
- SAP/ SAP BI systems experience advantageous
- You will be a strong relationship builder – ability to give constructive challenges whilst maintaining a solid working relationship
- You will be analytical with a curious nature
