Financial Controller
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a successful and growing manufacturing business in Somerset as Financial Controller. With a strong reputation in its market, continued investment and ambitious growth plans, this is a business that combines the stability of an established organisation with the energy and pace of a company looking firmly towards the future.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and forming part of the senior leadership team, you will play a key role in driving business performance, supporting strategic decision-making and leading the finance function through its next phase of growth.
Your new role
As Financial Controller, you will take full ownership of the finance function while acting as a trusted commercial partner to the wider business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team
- Producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts
- Owning the budgeting, forecasting and business planning process
- Delivering meaningful financial analysis and commercial insight
- Managing cash flow, working capital and treasury activities
- Partnering with operational and production teams to drive performance improvements
- Overseeing stock, inventory and cost accounting
- Developing robust financial controls, systems and reporting processes
- Managing statutory reporting, audits and compliance requirements
- Supporting strategic projects, growth initiatives and capital investment decisions
- Providing financial leadership across the wider organisation

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys operating within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will ideally possess:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Finance Business Partner
- Manufacturing, engineering or production sector experience
- Strong understanding of stock, inventory and cost accounting
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
- Experience improving finance processes, controls and reporting
- The ability to influence and challenge senior decision-makers
