Financial Controller Opportunity at a Leading Alternative Investment Manager

Autumnal Partners is collaborating with a top-tier alternative investment manager in hedge fund and private credit strategies to hire an exceptional Financial Controller.

The firm is undergoing a major transformation of its finance function, aiming to rethink, rebuild, and scale its existing infrastructure with technology, automation, and AI at its core.

About the Role

This role is not your typical Financial Controller position. Alongside traditional financial control and reporting duties, the successful candidate will be instrumental in examining current processes, identifying areas for simplification or automation, and assisting in the design and implementation of a more efficient and scalable finance operating model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of financial control, reporting, and month-end processes
  • Reviewing and redesigning existing finance processes and controls
  • Helping build a scalable finance infrastructure to support business growth
  • Identifying opportunities to automate manual and repetitive finance processes
  • Collaborating with technology and data teams to integrate AI, automation, and improved data architecture across finance
  • Enhancing the quality, speed, and accessibility of management information
  • Developing controls and governance around new technology-enabled processes
  • Working closely with senior finance leadership on the broader transformation of the function
  • Supporting and developing the wider finance team through significant change

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The successful candidate will blend strong accounting and control expertise with a keen interest in technology, automation, and the practical application of AI within finance. You do not need to be a technologist, but you should be intellectually curious about how finance functions can operate differently and have the ability to understand existing processes, challenge why they are done that way, and help build something better.

Why This Opportunity?

This role is ideal for someone eager to do more than maintain an established finance function. The mandate is to help dismantle the current function, understand what needs to remain, and rebuild it for the next stage of the firm's development.
