About the Role

Lead the Finance team to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting.

The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the financial control, reporting, compliance, accounting, and payroll activities of the business. The role ensures the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, robust internal controls, effective cash management, and statutory compliance.

A key responsibility of the role is the management of long-term contract accounting under IFRS 15, ensuring revenue, costs, contract assets, contract liabilities, and project profitability are recognized and reported accurately throughout the lifecycle of engineering and manufacturing projects.

The Financial Controller will act as a trusted business partner to operational, commercial, and project management teams, providing financial insight that supports profitable growth, effective risk management, and improved business performance.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, board reports, financial analysis, and parent group reporting returns.
  • Lead the team, and influence the wider business, through Finance change projects including use of the D365 ERP system and other ICT solutions with appropriate controls.
  • Own the accounting policy and treatment of long-term contracts in accordance with IFRS 15.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecast costs to complete, and contract profitability.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity reporting.
  • Partner with project managers, commercial managers, and operational leadership teams.
  • Monitor debtor collections, supplier payments, and working capital performance.
  • Lead monthly contract financial reviews with project managers and commercial teams.
  • Ensure adequate documentation supporting revenue recognition judgments and audit requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
