Talent Finance are proud to be partnering with a long established and highly regarded organisation based near Poole and Bournemouth, who are looking to appoint a qualified Financial Controller to join their senior leadership team.
Financial Controller | Onsite | £65-75k
Talent Finance are partnering exclusively with an established and successful SME business in the Poole area to recruit an experienced Financial Controller.
This is a key appointment within the business, taking ownership of the finance function and working closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team.
Operating within an international group structure, the Financial Controller will also have responsibility for international VAT and group reporting into the US, so we are looking for someone technically strong who is comfortable working across different reporting requirements and jurisdictions.
This is a hands-on role and will suit someone who enjoys being close to the business, understanding its commercial and operational drivers and using finance to support better decision making.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, including:
- Leading month-end and year-end close, management accounts, and financial reporting
- Reporting into the US and ensuring accurate and timely group reporting
- Managing international VAT requirements and ensuring appropriate compliance
- Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Project and contract costing, including revenue recognition, profitability, and margin analysis
- Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance
- Managing the relationship with external auditors, accountants, and professional advisers
- Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, VAT, and corporation tax
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, controls, and processes
- Providing commercial analysis and insight to the Managing Director and leadership team
- Supporting business planning, operational performance, and future growth

About You
We are looking for a fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant with a strong academic background and experience operating as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role.
You will ideally bring:
- Strong experience within an SME environment
- International VAT experience
- Experience of international or US group reporting
- Strong financial reporting and technical accounting knowledge
- Excellent management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting capability
- A good understanding of cash flow, controls, and statutory reporting
- Strong systems and Excel skills
- The ability to communicate confidently with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- A commercial, proactive, and hands-on approach
