FINANCIAL CONTROLLER - B2B DATA & INTELLIGENCE
Guildford - Almost 100% Remote - Permanent, Part Time (2-3 Days) - The First Finance Hire in a Seed-Backed Business
£65,000-£75,000 FTE
Are you a hands-on Financial Controller who's happy running the payment run as well as the month-end? Do you want a part-time seat where you build the finance function from the ground up and report straight to the founder?
We Do Group are hiring a part-time Financial Controller for an early-stage, seed-backed B2B data and intelligence business. This is the first finance hire the company has made, so you'd be building the function rather than inheriting one. The role is two to three days a week, almost entirely from home.
At the moment the finance work is split between the founder and two separate outsourced firms, one handling bookkeeping and one handling reporting, and the numbers that come out of it don't yet answer the questions the business is asking. Your first job is to bring it under one owner and get the basics running cleanly - the payment runs, the payroll and the filings. After that the shape of the function is largely your call.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
