Operating across Ireland, UK and Europe, Boven Safety Group is a leading Consultancy to our leading multinational Construction, Fit-Out, & Manufacturing based clients. We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Part Time Financial Controller to join a growing consultancy business in Northern Ireland.
This is a key role within the business, taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function while providing high-quality financial insight to support senior management and business growth. The successful candidate will combine strong financial control and reporting skills with a practical, commercial approach. Working closely with the leadership team, including our Accounts Manager, you will ensure the business has robust financial processes, accurate management information and clear visibility of performance, profitability and cash flow.
Responsibilities
As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
- Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning
- Providing timely financial reporting and commercial insight to the senior leadership team
- Monitoring project and client profitability, utilisation, margins and other key consultancy KPIs
- Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control and general ledger activities
- Managing working capital and maintaining accurate short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts
- Ensuring appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures are maintained
- Overseeing VAT, payroll and other relevant statutory and tax requirements
- Managing the year-end process and acting as the primary contact for external accountants and auditors
- Supporting pricing, proposals and commercial decision-making where required
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and processes
- Supporting the leadership team with strategic planning and business growth initiatives
- Developing financial reporting and dashboards that provide clear, actionable insight
- Managing and developing members of the finance team, where applicable

You Will Need
We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of the finance function while also operating as a trusted commercial partner to the wider business. Ideally, you will have:
- A recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or in a similar senior finance position
- Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful commercial insight
- Strong Excel, Xero and financial systems skills
- A good understanding of financial controls, statutory reporting and compliance
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders
- A proactive, organised and hands-on approach
- The ability to work effectively in a growing, fast-paced environment
- Experience within a consultancy, professional services or project-based business would be particularly advantageous.
