GBP 95,000 – 130,000 per annum (depending on experience) + benefits
A London-based single-family office is seeking a founding Financial Controller to build and own its finance function across a growing group of entities and asset classes.
This is a rare mandate for a qualified accountant who wants to build rather than maintain: the opportunity to establish the accounting, reporting, and control framework of a private investment office from the ground up, working in close partnership with the Principal and the office's external advisers. You will be the person who makes the numbers trustworthy — the backbone on which every investment and governance decision rests.
If you are a rigorous, discreet finance professional who takes pride in clean books, strong controls, and order brought to complexity, this is a genuinely foundational seat.
The Mandate
As Financial Controller, you will own the finance function end to end:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
