Financial Controller Role
To support a period of growth, we are looking to hire a Financial Controller on behalf of this privately owned business in Reading.
This role will be responsible for the management of the finance department, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and the delivery of timely financial information to support strategic decision-making across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a growing organisation and play a key role in driving financial performance, process improvement, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, ensuring high levels of performance and engagement.
- Oversee the production of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting deadlines.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Take ownership of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
- Prepare financial analysis and performance reports for the CFO and senior leadership team.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and banking partners.
- Develop, maintain and strengthen internal controls, financial policies and procedures.
- Monitor working capital, balance sheet reconciliations and cash management activities.
- Support commercial decision-making through financial modelling and business partnering.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial reporting, controls and operational efficiency.
- Oversee payroll, VAT returns and other statutory submissions where applicable.
- Support acquisitions, integrations and strategic projects as the business continues to grow.

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a proactive and commercially minded finance professional with a strong technical accounting background and proven leadership experience.
Essential Skills & Experience
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or equivalent leadership role.
- Strong financial reporting, management accounting and statutory accounting experience.
- Experience managing and developing finance teams.
- Excellent knowledge of financial controls, compliance and corporate governance.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management skills.
- Experience working closely with senior stakeholders and providing commercial insight.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growing business environment.
