Hyde is looking for a qualified and experienced Financial Operations Controller (Group) to join our Financial Control and Reporting function. Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, you will manage a team of Accountants and lead the accurate, timely and compliant delivery of statutory financial reporting, monthly reporting and year-end audit requirements for the Group.
This is an opportunity to combine technical accounting expertise, people leadership and strong financial governance in a complex organisation. You will act as a lead accountant for the external audit process, strengthen financial controls and provide clear technical advice that supports confident decision-making and regulatory compliance.
What you’ll do
- Manage, motivate and develop a team of Accountants, setting clear priorities and maintaining high standards of delivery.
- Lead the preparation and review of statutory accounts, financial statements, disclosures and supporting analysis.
- Coordinate Group audit requirements, working closely with external auditors and Finance colleagues to resolve queries and deliver accurate evidence on time.
- Provide technical accounting advice on complex reporting matters and ensure accounting treatments are robust, evidenced and consistently applied.
- Maintain strong financial controls, reconciliations, approvals and review points across monthly and year-end reporting.
- Identify reporting risks, control weaknesses and process gaps, recommending practical improvements that strengthen governance and assurance.
- Build effective relationships across Finance and the wider business, translating complex financial information into clear guidance and insight.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, templates, controls, timetables and team capability.

What you’ll bring
- A recognised professional accountancy qualification and substantial experience of statutory reporting, financial accounting and year-end audit in a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of relevant accounting standards, statutory accounts preparation, financial disclosures and audit evidence requirements.
- Excellent analytical and professional judgement, with the confidence to review complex financial information and make clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Proven experience of managing audit deliverables, resolving auditor queries and maintaining robust working papers, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Experience of managing or supervising finance colleagues, setting priorities and building capability within a reporting or financial control environment.
