Financial Controller - South Leeds

Robert Half has partnered with a project-based business to recruit for a Financial Controller, based in South Leeds.

This is a senior finance position with responsibility for overseeing financial reporting, financial controls, planning and commercial performance, while partnering closely with operational and senior leadership teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and annual financial reporting processes.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Oversee balance sheet management, reconciliations and financial reviews.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
  • Provide financial analysis, insight and challenge to support business decision-making.
  • Partner with operational teams to monitor financial performance, costs and profitability.
  • Oversee the financial management of a portfolio of projects, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Support cash flow, working capital and wider commercial initiatives.
  • Provide financial guidance and insight to senior stakeholders and project teams.
  • Lead, develop and support the finance team.
  • Drive improvements across finance processes, systems and reporting.

About you

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Several years' post-qualified experience in a senior finance position.
  • Previous experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or another project-based environment.
  • Strong background in financial control, reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience supporting the financial management of projects and monitoring costs and profitability.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insight.
  • Strong Excel and wider Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working independently.
  • Previous experience managing, mentoring or developing finance professionals.
