Interim Financial Controller - City of London

Cedar is partnered with an investor-backed SaaS business in the City of London to appoint an Interim Financial Controller. This is an initial 3-month Interim Financial Controller contract offering a day rate of £600-£700 per day.

The Company

This is an established software business with an international customer base and a lean, visible finance function.

The business is entering an important period for finance and wants to bring in an experienced Interim Financial Controller who can quickly get to grips with the numbers, strengthen the underlying processes and leave the function in a much better place.

There is genuine scope to make an impact. The role combines hands-on financial control with forecasting, reporting improvement and input into how the finance function should operate longer term.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, the Interim Financial Controller will take ownership of stabilising and improving the finance function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing the balance sheet and strengthening the quality of reconciliations.
  • Resolving historic accounting issues and improving confidence in the numbers.
  • Tightening month-end close and introducing clearer financial controls.
  • Improving the quality and timeliness of management reporting.
  • Reviewing revenue accounting and other key technical areas.
  • Supporting consolidated reporting across a multi-entity structure.
  • Building better short-term cash flow visibility.
  • Leading budgeting, reforecasting and forward-looking financial planning.
  • Developing more useful KPI and management information.
  • Supporting and developing the existing finance team.
  • Helping shape the longer-term structure of the finance function.

Your Profile

  • Qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Strong Financial Controller experience.
  • Proven experience improving, stabilising or cleaning up finance functions.
  • Strong balance sheet, reconciliation and month-end capability.
  • Comfortable operating hands-on and getting into the detail.
  • Good technical accounting and multi-entity reporting experience.
  • Strong forecasting and cash flow capability.

Compensation & Working Arrangements

  • Day rate: £600-£700 per day.
  • The position is based in the City of London, with approximately 3 days per week in the office.
  • The initial contract is expected to run for 3 months, with potential to extend.
