Financial Controller
About Belier
Belier is looking for a highly analytical, organised, and hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function within our fast-growing e-commerce and wholesale business.
This is a broad role for someone who is comfortable managing everything from monthly management accounts, P&L and cash-flow reporting through to invoicing, credit control, payroll, supplier payments, and financial analysis.
You will work closely with our external accountants and CFO, ensuring all financial records are accurate, reconciled, and prepared for VAT, year-end accounts, and statutory reporting.
The Role
You will take ownership of the accuracy and day-to-day management of Belier's financial information, providing the management team with clear visibility over revenue, profitability, cash flow, costs, and financial performance.
This is a hands-on role within a fast-moving business. We're looking for someone who can manage the detail while also understanding the bigger commercial picture and using financial data to support better business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and management accounts.
- Analyse performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying key variances and trends.
- Maintain accurate short and medium-term cash-flow forecasts.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Raise and process customer invoices and proactively manage credit control and overdue accounts.
- Process supplier invoices, reconcile statements, and prepare supplier payment runs.
- Prepare and process monthly payroll, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and pensions.
- Maintain accurate reconciliations across bank accounts, Xero, and other financial systems.
- Reconcile Shopify, payment gateways, and e-commerce revenue into Xero.
- Analyse revenue, gross margin, costs, and profitability across channels, customers, and product categories.
- Monitor expenditure and identify financial risks, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support management with budgets, forecasts, and commercial financial analysis.
- Maintain strong financial controls and approval processes.
- Work closely with our external accountants, preparing accurate financial information and supporting schedules for VAT returns, company accounts, and statutory filings.
- Maintain a clear financial calendar and ensure all internal reporting and payment deadlines are met.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
