Our client, based in Cambridge, is seeking an experienced Financial Controls Manager to join their finance function on a 9-month interim contract.
This is a broad role with responsibility for financial controls, month-end accounting, statutory compliance, audit and financial processes across a number of UK and international entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly accounting cycle and month-end processes across group entities.
- Liaise with the FP&A Manager to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop, manage and review financial policies, systems and controls, providing guidance and support to colleagues.
- Support the annual audit across the UK and international group entities.
- Prepare UK and Irish statutory accounts and oversee accounting-related filings.
- Ensure financial practices comply with Charities SORP (FRS 102) and other relevant regulations.
- Review income treatment to ensure compliance with SORP, including partial exemption treatment and supporting documentation.
- Oversee VAT, Gift Aid and wider tax compliance.
- Lead and support the finance team, providing clear direction and ensuring effective delivery of key processes.
- Manage the delivery of finance processes through Virtual Finance Offices across the UK, USA, India and Kenya.
- Oversee payment runs and act as the first approver for payments across the relevant entities.
- Provide oversight of financial due diligence on new and existing global partners.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, processes and reporting across the group.

About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced finance professional with strong exposure to financial controls, accounting processes and compliance.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Financial Controls Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant or similar role.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Experience across month-end, statutory accounts and audit.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, policies and processes.
- Experience working across multiple entities and/or international operations.
- Ideally, knowledge of Charities SORP (FRS 102), VAT and Gift Aid.
- Experience managing or overseeing finance teams and outsourced/shared-service functions.
- The ability to quickly understand existing processes, identify improvements and take ownership of a broad controls remit.

Contract Details
- 9-month interim contract
- £300-£350 per day + holiday pay
- 50% office-based in Cambridge
- October 2026 start
