Financial Crime Analytics Consultant

We are looking for a Financial Crime Analytics Consultant to join our growing Financial Crime Analytics function, supporting the enhancement of our Customer Due Diligence (CDD) capability. This is an exciting opportunity for an analytically driven professional to play a key role in strengthening our control framework, working closely with the CDD Manager to monitor, analyse and interpret customer data in line with regulatory requirements.

In this hands-on role, you will interrogate complex datasets to identify risk factors, develop rules, and produce meaningful insight, Management Information (MI) and analysis across CDD activities such as Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB). You’ll collaborate with operational and front-line teams, translating data into clear, actionable insights that drive risk-based decision-making and continuous improvement. Your experience within financial services, combined with a strong understanding of Anti Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) or fraud, will enable you to hit the ground running in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

We’re seeking someone with strong data analysis and interpretation skills, ideally with advanced Excel and working knowledge of SAS and SQL, who is confident explaining technical findings to non-technical stakeholders. This is a chance to be involved in building something new, contribute to a thriving team, and further develop your technical expertise while making a tangible impact on financial crime prevention.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.

Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.

If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You will conduct detailed analysis to respond to ad hoc queries, uncover trends and provide data-driven insights that support risk-based decision-making, consequence management and ongoing continuous improvement. This will include supporting population management for customers within CDD processes, using your analytical expertise to inform change initiatives and contribute to wider cross-Society projects.

Working collaboratively with Customer Insight and other analytics teams, you will help ensure alignment and consistency across data outputs while contributing to the enhancement of analytical tools and processes within the Protect area. You will also support knowledge sharing across teams, helping to build a stronger collective understanding of CDD, KYC and KYB requirements while continuously improving how data is used to drive effective outcomes.

About you

As a minimum, you will bring:

  • Advanced Excel expertise and/or working knowledge of SQL or SAS, enabling you to confidently manipulate, interrogate and analyse large datasets, build robust reporting, and support analytical modelling within a financial crime context
  • Proven experience in data analysis to support risk-based decision-making, with the ability to translate complex data into clear operational insight that informs strategy, improves processes and enhances outcomes
  • Hands-on experience within an economic crime environment, such as AML, CTF or Fraud, across retail and/or non-retail financial services, giving you a practical understanding of risk indicators and controls
  • A strong understanding of regulatory requirements and CDD principles, including KYC and KYB, alongside familiarity with customer onboarding and origination journeys and how these align with compliance obligations
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the confidence to engage across teams and seniority levels, and the ability to clearly communicate data-led insights to non-technical audiences in a meaningful and actionable way
  • Experience supporting or contributing to risk frameworks within financial services, with an appreciation for governance, controls and how data underpins effective risk management and regulatory compliance
