About the role

We are looking for a senior Financial Crime Business Analyst to join a fast-growing, regulated financial services business on an initial 3-month contract. The role will focus on a defined programme of work designed to strengthen financial crime controls, processes and supporting technology.

You will work closely with Compliance, Risk, Product, Engineering and Operations teams, translating regulatory and business requirements into practical, well-defined change. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can operate independently, navigate ambiguity and make an immediate impact without a lengthy onboarding period. Importantly, this role goes beyond requirements capture — you will play an active part in shaping the architecture and solution design itself, working closely with Engineering to ensure requirements translate into a scalable, well-structured build.

Key responsibilities

  • Gather, challenge and document requirements from Compliance, Risk, Product, Engineering and Operations stakeholders across financial crime controls, KYB/KYC onboarding, data and operational processes.
  • Assess and document current-state processes and functionality, identifying control, regulatory and process gaps.
  • Develop clear future-state requirements and specifications for Product and Engineering teams, actively contributing to solution and architectural design decisions, not just defining requirements for others to build.
  • Help design and introduce enhanced financial crime controls, workflows, data structures and monitoring capabilities, with a strong understanding of how these translate into system architecture.
  • Produce high-quality, audit-ready documentation suitable for internal governance and regulatory review.
  • Work with key stakeholders to prioritise and sequence change, balancing regulatory requirements against available delivery capacity.
  • Support system testing, validation and quality assurance ahead of new functionality going live.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on financial crime change, providing challenge and practical recommendations throughout the project.
  • Communicate confidently and concisely with senior stakeholders, tailoring detail and messaging appropriately for executive and non-technical audiences.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you

  • Senior Business Analyst with substantial experience delivering financial crime-related change.
  • Proven experience helping shape solution architecture, not solely capturing and documenting requirements — comfortable working alongside Engineering to influence how a solution is built.
  • Able to join a new environment and become productive quickly with minimal supervision.
  • Naturally proactive and comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for detailed direction.
  • Confident working through uncertainty where processes, requirements or ownership may not yet be fully established.
  • Strong judgement around decision-making, escalation and governance.
  • Comfortable operating within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial or scale-up environment.
  • Able to balance speed of delivery with high standards of quality, documentation and control.
  • Strong communicator who can distill complex information into clear, succinct updates for senior stakeholders — able to build effective relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Personally accountable for delivering outcomes rather than simply completing requirements.
