We are partnering with a financial services organisation operating within a highly regulated environment to appoint an experienced Financial Crime Engagement Lead on a contract basis.

This is a high-profile role for a senior financial crime professional who has experience operating under significant regulatory scrutiny, with proven exposure to Section 166 (s166) reviews, regulatory remediation and engagement with senior stakeholders and regulators.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in coordinating financial crime activity, driving remediation and ensuring the business is able to respond effectively to regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate financial crime remediation and regulatory engagement activity.
  • Act as a senior SME and point of contact for financial crime matters across the business.
  • Provide leadership and oversight across s166-related activity, including remediation, evidence gathering and delivery against agreed actions.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, Legal, Operations and senior leadership teams.
  • Support the business in responding to regulatory findings, recommendations and areas of concern.
  • Translate regulatory expectations into clear, practical remediation plans.
  • Challenge existing financial crime frameworks, controls and processes where appropriate.
  • Monitor delivery against remediation milestones and provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Identify risks, dependencies and potential blockers and ensure these are escalated appropriately.
  • Prepare high-quality materials and updates for senior management and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Support the development and enhancement of the firm's wider Financial Crime framework and control environment.
  • Ensure remediation activity is sustainable and embedded into business-as-usual processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
