RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll be doing
As a Financial Crime Investigator within our transaction monitoring team your key responsibilities will be to conduct in-depth investigations into Anti-Money Laundering (AML) transaction monitoring alerts, using a curious and analytical approach to identify unusual activity, perform Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) reviews, and interrogate financial data to assess potential financial crime risks.
You will lead end-to-end investigations into potentially suspicious activity, applying critical thinking and sound judgement to evaluate complex information, identify financial crime indicators, and submit high-quality disclosures to the National Crime Agency where appropriate.
Within this role you will deliver 1st Line Financial Crime activities with a strong focus on identifying risks, analysing trends, and continuously improving processes, ensuring high-quality outcomes, excellent customer service, and compliance with regulatory and legal obligations.
You will also work closely with 1st and 2nd line Financial Crime teams, asking insightful questions and exploring root causes to provide guidance to 1st Line colleagues, while documenting key learnings and control improvements to strengthen the overall financial crime framework and prevent recurrence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
