Financial Crime Manager
Step into an exciting opportunity as a Financial Crime Manager, where you'll play a key role in protecting customers, colleagues and the organisation from financial crime. As part of the first line of defence within Financial Crime Operations, you'll help ensure compliance with anti-money laundering, sanctions and counter-terrorist financing requirements while delivering positive customer outcomes.
Working at the heart of a growing and evolving area of the business, you'll contribute to major transformation initiatives, including new risk assessment approaches and technology platforms that are helping shape the future of banking.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced people leader with a strong background in financial crime, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), sanctions, customer due diligence or a related risk and compliance environment. You'll bring proven Business Banking and SME knowledge, enabling you to provide expert guidance on complex cases while leading, coaching and developing a high performing team. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you'll drive operational excellence, strengthen financial crime controls and support continuous improvement, playing a pivotal role in the organisation's ambition to become one of the UK's leading banking providers.
Hybrid Working
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Glasgow, Northampton or London office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
