About the team
The Financial Crime Risk Team sits within our wider Financial Crime Team and acts as our Second Line of Defence. The team provides independent oversight of financial crime risk across the Group, helping us understand and manage risks relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), sanctions, fraud and other areas of financial crime.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, the team plays an important role in making sure we have effective controls in place to protect our customers and the Group.
What you will be doing?
As a Financial Crime Risk Manager, you’ll play an important role within our Second Line Financial Crime function, helping us understand and manage our financial crime risk profile and strengthen our controls.
You’ll work with colleagues across the Group to provide guidance, constructive challenge and oversight, helping us manage the risks associated with fraud and financial crime while keeping our customers at the heart of our decisions.
The role reports to the Group Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO) and may involve occasional travel to our UK offices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the DMLRO and MLRO to review, develop and strengthen our financial crime and fraud systems, controls and monitoring, ensuring they remain aligned with our policies and risk appetite.
- Using your Second Line Financial Crime experience to provide constructive challenge, advice and guidance, working collaboratively with First Line teams to strengthen controls and support the delivery of our Financial Crime Risk Management Framework.
- Keeping up to date with regulatory and industry developments through horizon scanning, gap analysis and industry engagement, sharing relevant updates and recommending improvements to senior stakeholders.
- Providing oversight and assurance through Second Line Quality Assurance checks, third-party governance reviews and financial crime reporting, identifying potential gaps and recommending proportionate actions to manage risk.
- Representing Financial Crime across the business, contributing to projects, change initiatives and reviews, while building positive relationships and providing guidance on AML, fraud and wider financial crime matters.
- Promoting effective risk, compliance and data governance, supporting Financial Crime and Fraud Operations where needed, sharing emerging trends with stakeholders and keeping our customers at the heart of decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
