Drayton are delighted to be partnering with a growing, private equity-backed, multi-channel consumer business based in the North East of England in the appointment of a Finance Director. The successful candidate will combine strong financial leadership with a willingness to operate close to the detail, helping to strengthen the finance function, improve controls and governance, drive commercial performance and support profitable growth. This is an opportunity to join an ambitious leadership team and help build a scalable platform for future value creation.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the senior leadership team to support business strategy and growth initiatives.
- Lead and develop a high-potential finance team.
- Strengthen financial controls, governance and reporting processes.
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management and financial planning.
- Drive performance through robust commercial analysis and financial insight.
- Support investment decisions and growth initiatives through data-driven decision making.
- Improve systems, processes and ways of working across the finance function.
- Build a scalable finance platform capable of supporting future growth.

Requirements for this role include:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
- Previous Finance Director, Head of Finance experience.
- Experience within the consumer sector.
- Strong financial control, reporting, forecasting and cash management expertise.
- Experience improving processes, controls and governance within a growing business.
- Proven commercial finance and business partnering capability.
- Experience operating in an SME, private equity-backed or high-growth environment would be advantageous.

- Be a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys operating at both strategic and hands-on levels.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Thrive in fast-paced environments where growth, change and continuous improvement are key priorities.
- Bring a pragmatic, low-ego approach and a willingness to roll their sleeves up when required.
