Finance Director
Location: Coventry
Hours: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £90-£100,000 dependent on experience
We are working with a well-established business in Coventry who are looking to recruit a Finance Director to join their Senior Management Team.
This is a senior role within the business, working closely with the CEO and the senior management team and taking responsibility for the overall financial performance and direction of the company.
We're looking for someone who is commercially minded as well as technically strong. You'll need to be comfortable getting into the detail when required, but equally able to step back, look at the bigger picture and use the numbers to help guide business decisions.
You'll lead an established finance team and work closely with departments across the business, providing clear financial information and helping to identify opportunities to improve performance, profitability and efficiencies.
This could suit an experienced Finance Director, or a strong senior finance professional who is ready to take that next step into their first Director-level position.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting for the business
- Managing cash flow, working capital and financial reporting
- Providing clear financial information and commercial insight to the CEO and Senior Management Team
- Supporting business planning and key commercial decisions
- Identifying opportunities to improve profitability, margins and efficiencies
- Overseeing financial controls, governance and risk
- Ensuring all statutory, tax, audit and regulatory requirements are met
- Working closely with operational and commercial teams across the business
- Producing financial modelling and scenario planning to support future business decisions
- Leading and developing the finance team
- Managing relationships with auditors, professional advisers and other external stakeholders
- Supporting the CEO with business change, growth opportunities and wider strategic projects

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
