Finance Director – Fixed Term Contract

12 Month FTC, c.£160,000 + Bonus + Benefits (Hybrid Working)

Sphere Group has been engaged by a highly acquisitive group to recruit for a senior finance professional who can support the Board and SLT through a period of significant transformation. This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

The Group is seeking to appoint an accomplished finance leader with extensive experience across financial reporting, internal controls, and finance systems and processes. The successful candidate will act as a credible adviser to the Finance SLT and take responsibility for a team of 20+ finance professionals.

This is a high growth environment with a clear strategic priority to transform the finance function. The group is keen to appoint quickly, and candidates who are available to start in September will be viewed favourably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver strong leadership across Financial Control, developing the team and processes to foster a high-performance culture which delivers high quality output.
  • Maintain, develop and implement robust and comprehensive financial controls within a strong control environment, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks, the corporate code and all relevant accounting standards. Identify and mitigate financial risks across the firm.
  • Responsibility for the financial reporting processes, systems and data, ensuring that they are effective and well controlled. Develop and lead a culture of continuous improvement and challenge the status quo, striving for optimisation, including increased automation.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to the CFO supporting strategic initiatives, business projects, and ad hoc analysis as required by the senior leadership team.

The Candidate

The Board requires an accomplished finance leader with extensive experience in a senior financial control role, ideally in a large and complex organisation, who can help shape a best-in-class Group finance function. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a proven track record of leading large finance teams, overhauling processes and controls, optimising finance systems, and acting as a strategic business partner to executive leadership.
