Finance Director
Purpose of Role
To ensure the overall effective financial management, reporting, and systems oversight for the Company, with reporting responsibility to the parent company. This is a key leadership role focused on driving financial performance, improving operational efficiency, and supporting strategic growth through robust financial management, systems development, and data integrity. The position will play a pivotal role in leading the data reconciliation project between the Company's two loan management systems, managing the transition to a new, fully integrated loan management system, and overseeing the implementation of a new accounting system. The role will also lead the finance function, work closely with the data team and senior management, streamline internal reporting processes, and build effective working relationships with the parent company.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the finance function within the Company.
- Oversee the data reconciliation between the two loan management systems, ensuring full accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data.
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Group Finance Director, ensuring regular communication, alignment on strategic objectives, and collaborative problem-solving across the Company and the wider group.
- Act as the primary finance contact for external auditors, ensuring timely provision of accurate information, proactive resolution of audit queries, and ongoing engagement to support audit readiness and compliance.
- Lead the process of raising new debt facilities, including identifying funding needs, preparing documentation, engaging with potential funders, and negotiating terms to support the Company's strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with all existing and prospective funders, ensuring transparent communication, timely reporting, and proactive management of funder requirements.
- Oversee and continuously improve cash flow forecasting processes to ensure robust liquidity management and support strategic decision-making.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including setting financial targets, coordinating department inputs, and aligning with strategic objectives.
- Enhance management information systems and reporting, ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful data for decision-making.
- Lead the charge on new strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, partnerships, and product development, ensuring financial implications are fully assessed and managed.
- Provide financial leadership and due diligence for M&A activity, integration, and post-acquisition optimization.
- Oversee all regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with FCA and other relevant authorities.
- Ensure the role meets FCA “approved persons” requirements, including fitness and propriety, and maintain ongoing compliance with the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR).
- Ensure robust subsidiary-to-parent reporting and financial controls.
- Maintain strong governance frameworks and compliance with group policies.
- Collaborate with legal, tax, and compliance teams to manage entity risks and ensure deal readiness.
- Lead the transition to a new loan management system, ensuring it meets business requirements, integrates with other systems, and supports scalability.
- Manage the implementation of a new accounting system, ensuring compatibility with reporting, reconciliation, and financial controls.
- Review, improve, and streamline internal financial and management reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate information for decision-making.
- Work closely with the data and IT teams to ensure system developments align with financial and operational needs.
- Provide clear, accurate, and insightful financial information to the senior management team and parent company.
- Contribute to strategic business planning and budgeting, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Ensure all financial controls, procedures, and delegations are effective and adhered to.
- Lead and develop the finance team, setting clear objectives and supporting professional growth.
- Communicate effectively across the organization, promoting transparency and collaboration.
- Support the business in key projects, including new partnerships and product development, ensuring financial implications are fully assessed.
- Act as a key liaison with auditors, advisors, and the parent company's finance function.
- Promote and uphold the Company's values, culture, and ethical standards in all activities.

Principal Accountabilities

- Successfully secure new debt facilities as required to support business growth and operational needs.
- Deliver accurate and timely cash flow forecasts and budgets to the Board and senior management.
- Strengthen MI capability to support business performance and growth.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and ensure timely submission of all required reports.
- Act as an FCA “approved person” (SMF3 Executive Director), upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board and senior management.
- Ensure robust financial governance and compliance across all systems and processes.
- Deliver successful implementation of new loan management and accounting systems.
- Strengthen financial insight, control, and forecasting capability.
- Lead the finance department and contribute to the strategic direction of the Company.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA), or at least 10 years of senior financial management experience.
- Proven experience in leading system transitions or data reconciliation projects.
- Experience implementing or managing loan management and accounting systems.
- Ability to direct staff and lead cross-functional project teams to resolve business issues.
- Strong understanding of financial control frameworks and data governance.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Proactive, hands-on leader with the ability to manage complex projects through to completion.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
