Role: Finance Director
Location: Oxfordshire
Salary: £100,000-125,000 + Bonus + LTIP + Benefits
An established, privately owned, entrepreneurial services business, is seeking a Finance Director to join its senior leadership team. This is a broad and influential appointment offering the opportunity to professionalise the finance function, strengthen financial controls and processes, and provide the commercial insight required to support the Group’s continued growth.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board, the Finance Director will act as a key strategic and commercial partner, providing high-quality financial leadership, insight, and constructive challenge. The successful candidate will lead and develop the finance team, improve management information and financial planning, enhance systems and automation, and establish a more scalable finance function capable of supporting the future growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Board and senior leadership team to support the development and delivery of business strategy.
- Provide clear financial and commercial insight to support effective decision-making.
- Lead the preparation of consolidated management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and Board reporting.
- Improve the quality of management information across margins, pricing, profitability, overheads, and working capital.
- Strengthen financial controls, governance, risk management, and balance-sheet integrity.
- Lead cash-flow forecasting, banking, treasury, and foreign-exchange management.
- Improve stock control, inventory management, and working-capital performance.
- Develop robust product-costing, pricing, and margin-analysis processes.
- Review and improve finance systems, processes, reporting tools, and automation.
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, creating clear responsibilities and greater accountability.
- Manage relationships with banking partners, auditors, insurers, and other external stakeholders.
- Support capital-investment decisions, strategic growth initiatives, and potential acquisitions.
- Help develop a scalable finance function capable of supporting a larger and more complex business.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a commercially minded finance leader who combines strategic capability with a practical, hands-on approach.
Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
- Proven experience as a Finance Director or senior finance leader.
- Experience gained within an SME, divisional, or entrepreneurial business environment.
- Demonstrable success in improving financial controls, reporting, processes, and business performance.
- Strong commercial finance and business-partnering capability.
- Good understanding of inventory, product costing, pricing, margins, rebates, and working-capital management.
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting, cash management, banking, and treasury.
- A track record of leading and developing finance teams.
- Experience of improving finance systems and introducing greater automation.
- The ability to translate financial information into clear, practical business actions.
- Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills.
- A pragmatic, resilient, and commercially focused leadership style.
- Experience of acquisitions, due diligence, or post-acquisition integration would be advantageous.
