Finance Director
Private Equity-Backed Technology Business
Location: London
Package: £150-£170k Base + Bonus + Benefits
The Consultancy Group has been retained by an ambitious, private equity-backed international technology business to appoint a newly created Finance Director.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-profile leadership role with significant exposure to both regional and global stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving business performance, supporting strategic decision-making and helping shape the next phase of growth across a complex, multi-country operation.
This is not a traditional Finance Director position. While maintaining responsibility for core financial stewardship, the emphasis of the role is firmly on commercial leadership, business partnering and transformation. The Finance Director will act as a trusted advisor to the leadership and Exec team, providing insight and challenge to support strategic initiatives, operational performance and long-term value creation and offer a clear route to become CFO.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
