Job Title
Enki is working with an established early-stage venture capital firm looking to appoint its first dedicated senior finance hire on a fractional basis.
About the Firm
The fund is a specialist pre-seed investor, typically investing £250k–£500k per company, and has built a portfolio of approximately 50 investments to date. Having already raised approximately £50m, the firm is now entering its next phase of growth and is currently working towards a further fundraise.
The existing finance function is in a good position. One of the GPs has historically taken ownership of finance, supported by an external bookkeeper, but with the portfolio growing and another raise underway, the team now wants to bring in an experienced Fractional FD/CFO to professionalise and take ownership of the function.
The Role
This will be a broad, hands-on finance leadership role working closely with the GP and wider investment team. The initial focus will be taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function, strengthening reporting and controls, and creating greater structure around the financial operations of the management company and fund.
Alongside this, the FD/CFO will play an important role in supporting the firm's current fundraise and ensuring the finance function is ready for the next stage of growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
