What will you be doing?
S&W is launching a new Economic Advisory team, delivering high-quality advisory and expert services to corporates, regulators, government bodies, and legal advisers. We are looking for a Financial Economist to play a key role in the growth and development of this exciting new offering.
The role provides exposure to a broad range of clients, sectors, and types of work, and will particularly suit someone who enjoys varied projects and the collaborative, entrepreneurial environment of a growing practice.
Responsibilities
As a Financial Economist, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of complex economic advisory engagements, ensuring high-quality client outcomes
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Supporting business development activities, including proposal preparation, client pitches, and identifying opportunities for growth
- Providing technical expertise across competition, regulatory, financial, or applied economics projects
- Managing and developing junior team members through coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training
- Contributing to thought leadership initiatives and raising the profile of the Economic Advisory practice
- Supporting Directors and Partners in shaping the growth, strategy, and culture of the team
- Managing multiple workstreams and project teams across a diverse portfolio of assignments

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Significant experience in economic valuation, securities litigation, financial economics, and project management gained in a consultancy setting
- A strong track record of delivering economic advice on complex and high-profile issues
- Deep technical expertise in one or more core economic consulting disciplines, including:
- Competition economics (e.g. mergers, market investigations, antitrust conduct, digital and platform markets)
- Regulatory economics (e.g. price controls, market design, regulatory frameworks, and incentive mechanisms)
- Economic valuation and financial economics
- Econometrics, quantitative modelling, and data-driven analysis
- Experience supporting business development activities and contributing to the growth of client relationships
- Strong sector experience within one or more relevant industries, including Financial Services, Infrastructure, Power & Utilities, Transport, Digital & Technology, or other regulated and network industries
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience leading project teams and managing complex, multi-disciplinary engagements
- Experience providing support on disputes, litigation, or regulatory proceedings would be advantageous
- A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ambition to help build a market-leading Economic Advisory practice
