Your new role
As a Financial Inclusion Adviser, you'll be based within GP Practices across Glasgow, working alongside healthcare professionals to support patients experiencing financial difficulties. You'll provide holistic financial inclusion advice, helping clients maximise their income, access welfare benefits, manage debt and improve their overall financial wellbeing. Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out benefit entitlement checks
- Completing and submitting applications to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Social Security Scotland
- Gathering supporting evidence
- Assisting with Mandatory Reconsiderations and appeals
- Negotiating with creditors
- Providing budgeting advice
- Identifying additional funding opportunities
You'll also build strong relationships with GP Practice staff, NHS colleagues and partner organisations whilst maintaining accurate client records and ensuring services are delivered in line with Scottish National Standards.

What You'll Need To Succeed
To be successful in this role, you'll have significant experience providing welfare rights, benefits and debt advice. This candidate will have strong and up-to-date understanding of the UK benefits system. A key requirement of this position is the ability to provide detailed, accurate and practical advice on a wide range of welfare benefits, supporting clients to understand their entitlements and navigate often complex circumstances. You'll have proven experience assisting with benefit applications through the DWP and Social Security Scotland, as well as managing Mandatory Reconsiderations, appeals and debt-related casework. Experience gained within a Citizens Advice Bureau or similar advice service would be highly advantageous, as would a strong track record of supporting vulnerable individuals through the benefits and welfare system.
You'll possess excellent communication, interviewing and case management skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload whilst delivering a high-quality service. Strong written and IT skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and build positive relationships with clients and partner organisations.
