We’re Hiring: Financial Manager

We are looking for an experienced Financial Manager to join GFI and take ownership of financial and regulatory reporting, safeguarding reconciliations, audit support, and financial controls. This role is particularly suited to someone with experience in payments, fintech, EMI/PI, banking, or another regulated financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit the company’s regulatory reports accurately and on time.
  • Maintain the regulatory reporting calendar and monitor all relevant deadlines.
  • Collect financial data and supporting documentation from Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Operations, Compliance, and merchant/payment provider teams.
  • Review information for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and appropriate supporting evidence.
  • Reconcile accounting records with bank statements, provider reports, merchant reports, and internal records.
  • Investigate material movements, discrepancies, unusual transactions, and long-outstanding reconciliation items.
  • Ensure the correct classification of client funds and the company’s own funds.
  • Review balances and movements across client, safeguarding, and operational bank accounts.
  • Reconcile liabilities to merchants against funds received from payment providers, bank balances, and actual payouts.
  • Prepare and review safeguarding reconciliations and monitor the timely transfer of merchant funds or placement of funds into appropriate safeguarding accounts.
  • Identify safeguarding shortfalls, excess company funds held in client accounts, and unresolved balances.
  • Review provider statements, merchant balances, bank statements, fees, refunds, adjustments, and related transactions.
  • Maintain a structured register of unresolved items, including amounts, reasons, responsible owners, and resolution deadlines.
  • Obtain written explanations and supporting evidence for material transactions and discrepancies.
  • Verify contracts, invoices, acceptance acts/certificates, calculations, payment instructions, bank statements, and other supporting documentation.
  • Maintain a structured archive of reports, calculations, supporting documents, and relevant correspondence.
  • Prepare documentation packages for regulators, management, and external auditors.
  • Support regulatory inspections and financial/safeguarding audits and monitor the implementation of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Prepare annual financial reporting and coordinate the financial and safeguarding audit process.
  • Calculate payroll, applicable taxes, and statutory contributions.
  • Prepare financial and regulatory materials for management meetings and the Board.
  • Ensure consistency across regulatory, management, and accounting reporting.
  • Monitor the remediation of previously identified safeguarding and documentation gaps.
  • Escalate material discrepancies, unsupported transactions, missed deadlines, and significant financial or regulatory risks to the CFO, Compliance/MLRO, and senior management.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

All reported information must be supported by appropriate calculations, statements, reconciliations, and documentary evidence. Process owners remain responsible for the completeness of source data, primary documentation, and confirmation of transactions within their areas.
