Help us make a big green dent in the universe.

We're on a mission to drive the global renewable energy revolution, and we need many more people to help us make our vision a reality.

Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN) is a leader in sourcing, investing in, and managing a wide range of utility-scale renewable energy assets. As we continue to expand our investment base, we are dedicated to building a diverse team that reflects the communities we serve. Currently, we manage a global portfolio of over £7 billion in renewable energy assets.

We are committed to delivering best-in-class responsible investment activity, offering like-minded investors the means and products to invest their capital sustainably. It is our ambition to change the entire energy lifecycle and make every green electron matter, delivering the best outcomes for customers, investors, the environment, and society, accelerating the transition to net zero.

The Development Portfolio Management Team at OEGEN is responsible for delivering our development investments and works hand in hand with developers to deliver on the investment cases in changing commercial and market dynamics.

Your mission will be to make our large development portfolio across Europe a huge success. It spans different maturity stages (from early-stage land to ready to build) and five countries.

We are looking for someone who is very commercially minded, understands renewables development, loves data, and communicates clearly with the team and senior stakeholders. The board directors and fund managers will rely on you to support them in decision making and value creation for portfolio companies.

You will be in charge of value maximization of projects through their development journey (from early stage to ready to build) and lead on exits.

The ideal candidate will be available to start within 4 weeks.

What you'll do

Commercial Management:

  • You will be a key person responsible for modelling renewable energy projects, joint ventures, and TopCo business plans.
  • Maintain and adapt financial models to monitor valuation and financial performance of investments, conducting regular assessments of overall portfolio performance against objectives and reporting progress to OEGEN fund managers.
  • You will support the commercial management of multiple development pipelines, working with a team of portfolio managers and developers to track performance against investment cases and agreed milestones.
  • Support managers and fund managers on value maximization initiatives for each development project, including exit timing, sale preparation, revenue contracting, last mile development, and other activities, ensuring optimal returns to investors on exit. You will drive the exit process of projects and platforms at different stages of their life.
  • Monitor and interrogate project progress, budgets, and KPIs, identifying and escalating risks in a timely manner, and provide briefings and solutions to decision makers (such as board directors and fund managers).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
