The firm

Buy Side Recruitment is retained by a major private equity and infrastructure investor in London to appoint a Financial Operations Accountant into its group finance team. The function is one of the best run that Buy Side Recruitment works with, and it sits alongside the deal teams rather than downstream of them. It has a long record of producing the finance directors and chief financial officers of other private equity houses.

The role

The team is seven people: three accountants, three technologists, and this seat, which bridges the two. You will carry a full fund accounting and reporting schedule across the firm's private equity and infrastructure vehicles, and you will be the accountant in the room who is also at home with the systems the function runs on.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The reporting cycle is steady and scheduled across the year rather than driven by deadline spikes. Nothing runs on spreadsheets. The function is built on platforms, and it wants an accountant who will help develop them rather than work around them.

You will:

  • Own financial reporting across private equity and infrastructure vehicles, with the deal teams as your day-to-day stakeholders
  • Work inside Anaplan, Workiva and eFront, and help shape how the function uses them
  • Build reports and analysis, and automate what is still manual
  • Bring an accountant's judgement to the systems conversations, and a systems mindset to the accounting ones

What is required

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with around two years of post-qualification experience
  • Fund accounting in private equity, infrastructure or real estate, or at a fund administrator
  • A systems mindset. You can get your head around a new platform and you enjoy doing so alongside the day job. Prior experience of Anaplan, Workiva or eFront is not required
  • An understanding of SQL. This is the one technical requirement, and the question you will be asked at interview is how many reports you have built
  • Bright, commercially minded, and comfortable engaging stakeholders beyond the finance team
