We are seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Financial Planner to join our team. You will be a Financial Planner with a minimum of 5 years’ advisory experience and a proven track record of client acquisition and retention.
You will already have experience providing regulated financial advice and managing ongoing client relationships, you'll be committed to further professional development and progressing towards Chartered Financial Planner status.

What you'll do
Client Relationship Management
- Build, develop and manage a portfolio of client relationships, taking ownership of the delivery and implementation of their financial planning strategies.
- Develop trusted, long-term relationships with clients, providing ongoing advice and support throughout their financial planning journey.
- Meet with clients regularly, ensuring agreed actions are documented, communicated and implemented efficiently.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering a consistently high standard of service and advice.
Financial Planning & Advice
- Provide holistic financial planning advice to new and existing clients, covering all aspects of wealth management including retirement planning, investments, protection and estate planning.
- Ensure all recommendations are tailored to clients' objectives and delivered in a compliant, commercially sound and client-focused manner.
- Identify and discuss planning opportunities that support clients in achieving their financial goals and improve their overall financial position.
- Take responsibility for the suitability and quality of advice provided, ensuring all recommendations meet regulatory and business standards.

- Proactively develop new client relationships through referrals, professional connections, networking activities and company-generated opportunities.
- Grow your client portfolio whilst maintaining strong retention and satisfaction levels across existing relationships.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the business by identifying opportunities to expand client engagement and service offerings.
Technical Expertise
- Act as a trusted source of knowledge and guidance for clients on financial planning matters.
- Maintain a strong understanding of legislative, regulatory and market developments, ensuring advice remains current and relevant.
- Work collaboratively with Paraplanners and Client Support teams to deliver efficient, high-quality financial planning solutions.
Professional Development
- Maintain and enhance your professional knowledge through ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Progress towards Chartered Financial Planner status and other relevant professional qualifications where appropriate.
- Share knowledge and best practice across the wider business to support continuous improvement and professional development.
Marketing & Thought Leadership
- Support marketing initiatives by contributing articles, commentary and technical content for clients, professional connections and colleagues.
- Represent Benchmark professionally through networking events, seminars and other business development activities where appropriate.
- Promote the firm's values and reputation through every client and professional interaction.
Compliance & Governance
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation in line with FCA requirements and internal standards.
- Ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with regulatory obligations, company policies and best practice.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and client care at all times.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
- Proven experience providing holistic financial planning advice to affluent and high-net-worth individuals.
- Strong technical knowledge across financial planning disciplines, including investments, pensions, retirement planning, protection, inheritance tax and wider tax planning strategies.
- An FCA-approved Level 4 qualification as a minimum requirement.
- A current Statement of Professional Standing (SPS).
- Demonstrable experience building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
- Strong understanding of the UK financial planning and regulatory environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of clients and deliver high-quality advice and service.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable
- Chartered Financial Planner status, or working towards the CII Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.
- Experience within a wealth management, independent financial advice, fund management, life company or professional advisory environment.
- Pension Transfer Specialist qualification.
- A strong understanding of the financial planning solutions and strategies available within the UK marketplace and how they can be effectively applied to meet client needs.
- Experience developing new business opportunities through referrals, professional connections and networking activities.
- Ability to contribute thought leadership, technical content or professional insights to clients, colleagues and marketing initiatives.
The base
You'll be based at Benchmark's Head Office on the Broadlands Business Campus near Horsham, West Sussex, with regular travel to other Benchmark locations and Schroders' headquarters in London as required.
