Financial Planner
City of London (Hybrid) | £65,000 – £80,000 plus bonus and benefits
We are working with an independent, long-established London wealth manager to recruit a Financial Planner to join their team.
Our client is an independently owned firm that has been advising private clients for several decades. Ownership sits with the family shareholders and the staff, which gives the business a long-term outlook and a culture noticeably different from the consolidator-owned end of the market. It is a boutique operation by headcount, with the average client portfolio in the region of £450,000.
What makes this one worth a look is that they are a genuinely integrated wealth manager. A team of Discretionary Fund Managers works side by side with a team of Financial Planners, so planning and investment management are delivered as one joined-up service rather than sitting in separate silos or being outsourced elsewhere. Your focus is purely on the planning and advice side.
The Role
You will be servicing an existing client bank alongside the Discretionary Investment Managers. Day to day, that means:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
