Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, 6-month contract

Type of Role: Contract position, Inside IR35
Contract length: 6 months
Location: Hybrid, 3 days on site in Paddington, London and 2 days working from home

General Summary:

The IHQ Manager of FP&A is a key member of Vertex's Commercial Finance business partner organization, supporting key commercial business functions by providing financial direction and insight including identification of key value drivers and Business KPIs, helping functions deliver their short term and long-term goals through proactive day-to-day support, challenge, influence and insight. The role ensures that all commercial functional activities are appropriately reflected in company budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning and will build analytics to help decision making. Regular engagement with commercial functional leadership is an important part of the role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Finance Business Partner for a number of commercial functions, providing financial direction and insight including identification of key value drivers and Business KPIs, helping functions deliver their short term and long-term goals through proactive day-to-day support, challenge, influence and insight.
  • Manages the financial performance management process for responsible functions (objective setting, budget vs. actuals, etc.), including the monthly forecast process, with a focus on influencing business operations and decisions through an understanding of the key drivers of short-term performance and communicating the range of possible outcomes. In addition, supports with specific disease are views.
  • Manages long range plan for IHQ commercial submissions & reporting; including specific disease area views.
  • Manages the financial planning process for responsible commercial functions (budget, forecast, long range plan) to provide insightful and influential forward-looking direction, to develop key scenarios, and to identify key risks/uncertainties and plans for potential mitigation.
  • Builds analytics for responsible functions that support business case-based decision making for investments.
  • Work closely with other members of the CFO organization including Global Commercial Finance, Corporate Finance, the broader International Finance team and Accounting to maintain a continuous improvement mindset and promote strong communication and efficient processes.
  • Partner with strategic sourcing as the IHQ Finance BP supporting opportunity identification & ongoing reporting.

Experience and skills required:

  • Strong analytical and financial skills to evaluate a broad range of financial questions—especially valuation, ROI/ROIC, and complex business decisions.
  • Expertise with Excel, PowerPoint, Hyperion & Power BI.
  • Strong business acumen and judgment, and knowledge of the company's markets/products and industry trends.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaboration with colleagues (within or outside of finance) in sharing insights and learnings and partnering to ensure timely execution of project plans.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset, with flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
  • ACA, ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent with relevant post qualification experience.
