About the Role
As FP&A Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial health of the organisation. Your responsibilities will encompass financial planning, analysis, reporting, and control functions. You will work closely with senior management to provide strategic insights and facilitate decision-making processes.
Day to day, you will:
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Develop and maintain financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Analyse financial data, trends, and performance metrics to provide actionable insights to senior management
- Collaborate with department heads to create and monitor budgetary allocations
Budget Management
- Work closely with department heads to develop annual budgets and monitor actual performance against budgeted targets
- Work with the business to implement controls that measure project spend against budget
- Provide headcount variance analysis against budget and forecast by department
- Identify areas of cost savings and efficiency improvements, reviewing data to give management insight into excessive or irregular spend (e.g. staff overtime, payroll discrepancies)
- Provide recommendations and introduce setup processes to optimise resource allocation, such as a CAPEX review process
- Implement project cash flow reporting and management information highlighting the best and worst performing projects
Financial & Business Controls
- Establish and maintain effective financial controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information
- Review and implement a standard costing model, manage balance sheet accruals and mitigate P&L exposure through continuous review of the process
- Define and monitor business KPIs to anticipate impact on financial results
- Design, build and own the management reporting suite — automated dashboards covering P&L, cash flow, working capital and unit economics, with drill-down from group to business unit, project and customer level
- Define the KPI framework and act as single source of truth for KPI definitions and calculation logic — revenue growth, recurring revenue and order book, gross margin by project and customer, EBITDA and EBITDA bridge, churn and retention, customer acquisition cost and payback, DSO/DPO and inventory days, cash conversion and headcount productivity
- Automate data flows from ERP, CRM and operational systems into the reporting layer (e.g. Pigment, Power BI or equivalent), reducing manual reporting effort and closing timelines
- Establish data governance and reconciliation controls so all dashboard outputs tie back to the general ledger and statutory accounts
- Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Management Support
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making, and take ownership of monthly KPI reporting to the Board of Directors
- Deliver the monthly management and Board dashboard pack: actuals versus budget and forecast, variance commentary, rolling 13-week cash forecast, KPI trend view and a concise exception report highlighting the decisions required
- Build scenario and sensitivity dashboards (pricing, volume, cost inflation, headcount and capex) to support investment appraisal, pricing decisions and resource allocation
- Translate dashboard output into clear recommendations for management, with agreed thresholds and alerts that trigger corrective action
- Business partner with operations and sales
- Collaborate with senior management in evaluating potential investments and business opportunities
- Work on ad hoc projects
Exit Readiness and Investor Due Diligence
- Build and maintain an investor-ready KPI and reporting pack: quality-of-earnings support, EBITDA adjustment and normalisation schedules, revenue cohort and retention analysis, customer and project concentration, margin bridges and cash conversion
- Maintain audit-ready data trails so every KPI and dashboard figure can be traced to source data and reconciled to audited financials, with consistent definitions applied across all historical periods
- Own the financial workstream of the data room — historical trading packs, monthly databook, budget versus actual track record, KPI history and the forecast model underpinning the equity story
- Act as finance point of contact for advisers and prospective investors during due diligence, managing the information request and Q&A log and turning around analyses to deal timetables
- Run a rolling exit-readiness assessment, identifying reporting, data and control gaps and remediating them well ahead of a transaction process
About You
You'll do well here if you recognise yourself in this:
- You're hungry to grow and you take personal responsibility for your work and your development.
- You're comfortable with complexity and you'd rather solve a hard technical problem than avoid it.
- You work well across disciplines — you know good delivery depends on civil, power and digital teams pulling in the same direction.
- You use sound judgment under pressure and you're straight with people about risk and programme.
- You communicate and present effectively, and you work collaboratively while managing multiple priorities at once.
