About Bristol Waste Company

At Bristol Waste Company, what we do matters. We keep Bristol and the surrounding areas clean, safe and moving. Working in partnership with the council, we support the city’s sustainability goals while delivering high‑quality, value‑for‑money services. Our commercial operations are growing, and we’re looking for people who share our values and want to grow with us.

Purpose Of The Role

To provide FP&A support to the Waste & FM services, leading on budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and business partnering, underpinned by strong financial modelling capability. The role designs, builds and maintains robust financial models, translating complex data into clear, actionable information, and works closely with budget holders and senior stakeholders to drive planning, performance monitoring and commercial decision making across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasts for the Waste & FM services, working with budget holders to build robust, assumption-led plans.
  • Review monthly management reporting, including variance analysis of actuals against budget and forecast, explaining drivers and recommending corrective action.
  • Act as a business partner to operational and commercial teams, providing financial challenge and support to budget holders throughout the planning and reporting cycle.
  • Translate complex data into clear and meaningful insights for non technical stakeholders, highlighting key drivers, risks and recommendations.
  • Ensure strong model governance including documentation, quality checks, audit trails and version control.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Finance, Data & Reporting, Operations and Bristol City Council to gather assumptions, validate inputs and align outputs with business needs.
  • Monitor performance by reviewing actuals against forecasts, refining assumptions and updating models to reflect changing business conditions.
  • Produce a range of modelling outputs including valuation models, sensitivity and scenario analyses, business cases, KPI dashboards and investment appraisals.
  • Support decision making by providing high quality analytical insight that strengthens commercial understanding and enables strategic growth.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
