FP&A Manager — 6 Month Contract
Retail or FMCG experience would be highly beneficial but strong FP&A candidates will be considered. Start asap!!!
About the Role
This is a temporary 6-month role reporting into the Head of Commercial Finance - it could easily be extended as the business is expanding internationally so may present longer-term opportunities for the right, ambitious candidate.
The Head of Commercial Finance will provide oversight and direction, but the successful candidate will ideally take day-to-day ownership of the budgeting, forecasting and planning processes, bringing structure, control and momentum to key finance activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes end-to-end, managing timelines, templates, stakeholder inputs, review meetings and final outputs
- Work closely with the Head of Commercial Finance to ensure planning outputs are robust, clearly understood and aligned to business priorities
- Partner with commercial, finance and leadership teams to gather assumptions, challenge inputs and translate business plans into clear financial forecasts
- Own and improve planning models, templates and reporting packs, ensuring they are accurate, consistent, easy to use and fit for purpose
- Identify opportunities to improve existing budgeting and forecasting processes, including better ways to capture assumptions, track changes and communicate outputs
- Provide clear variance analysis, scenario modelling and insight to support decision-making across sales, margin, overheads, cashflow and wider business performance
- Support ad hoc analysis and project work as required, helping the business understand performance, risks, opportunities and trade-offs
- Bring strong organisation, attention to detail and proactive communication to ensure stakeholders know what is required, when it is required and how decisions will be made

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
