Commercial Finance Manager – FP&A Sales Performance
Berkshire / Thames Valley | £80K plus excellent benefits | International Organisation
4 office days, 1 remote day per week
Are you a commercially astute finance professional who knows what good looks like, trusts their instincts and isn't afraid to challenge the numbers?
We're supporting a well-established international organisation in the appointment of an experienced Commercial Finance Manager to lead sales performance analysis (UK&I), influence commercial decision-making and develop a team of three analysts.
This isn't simply about producing forecasts, explaining variances or creating impressive dashboards.
It's about understanding what drives performance, knowing when the numbers don't tell the whole story and having the confidence to challenge what you're seeing.
The opportunity
Reporting to a senior finance leader, you'll take ownership of sales planning, forecasting and performance reporting across the UK & Ireland. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Services and Supply Chain, you'll have the autonomy to improve how financial information is analysed, communicated and used to influence commercial decisions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Commercial Insight: Understand the real drivers of sales performance, challenge assumptions and identify risks and opportunities.
- FP&A Leadership: Lead budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis and commercial reporting.
- Business Partnering: Build influential relationships with senior stakeholders, translating complex financial information into practical commercial recommendations.
- Process Improvement: Improve reporting accuracy, efficiency and productivity, making better use of existing systems, Power BI and analytical tools.
- People Leadership: Lead and develop three analysts, moving the team's focus from reporting historical performance towards generating meaningful commercial insight.
- Decision Support: Provide financial challenge and analysis to support pricing, investment and commercial initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Strong commercial judgement, analytical rigour and an instinctive understanding of business performance.
- A confident, engaging communication style and the ability to influence and constructively challenge senior stakeholders.
- The ability to educate and engage non-financial colleagues, making financial information accessible and meaningful.
- Proven experience improving reporting processes and productivity within established systems.
- Strong leadership skills and a genuine enthusiasm for developing people.
