Are you an FP&A or commercial finance professional looking for your next step?
Would you like to turn financial data into action across a growing health and social care provider?
Overview
Compass Associates are proud to be working with a fast-growing provider of health and social care services, supporting them in the appointment of an FP&A Manager to join their finance team.
Our client supports adults with a range of complex needs and is well established across the UK. The business is growing year on year, with new services opening every year, and it has a reputation as a great place to work, with high levels of employee satisfaction and loyalty.
This is your chance to step into a senior leadership position with genuine influence over how the business performs. The role is effectively brand new, which gives you the freedom to decide where to deep dive and to shape it around your own strengths. You will see the impact of your work on real operational decisions.
You will join a small, settled and efficient finance team, with a Finance Director who will support you as the role grows. There is real scope to improve current processes and to get involved in system projects as the business scales, so if you enjoy building as much as analysing, this is the place to do it. For the right person, the chance to grow with a business expanding this quickly is hard to match.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role
Reporting into the Finance Director and sitting alongside the Financial Controller, you will oversee the financial and analytics side of the function across the whole business. You will turn numbers into practical insight for operational leaders and help Registered Managers understand the financial picture in simple terms. EBITDA has recently moved to weekly reporting, so you will explain what drives it and how teams can influence it. You will also look beyond headline figures, for example comparing agency cost against funded charge rates to show the true impact on EBITDA.
You will work closely with the Head of HR on the annual pay review, aligning salary budgets with market trends and recruitment strategy. You will be supported by an offshore analyst, with a junior analyst potentially added as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Review budgets against the P&L and produce monthly budget vs actual analysis
- Lead on forecasting, annual budgeting and April pay increase planning
- Explain EBITDA and its drivers to Registered Managers and operational teams in layman's terms
- Analyse staffing costs, agency usage and occupancy trends
- Develop KPIs and dashboards, and present insights to senior management
- Contribute to the selection and implementation of a finance system
Essential Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent); part qualified candidates considered for the right person
- Experience in an FP&A, analytics or commercial finance role, or heavy involvement in analytics and ready for the next step
- Track record of business partnering with operational, non-finance stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable insight
- Advanced Excel skills; BI and reporting tools and financial modelling experience a strong advantage
- Confident, outgoing and collaborative, with excellent communication and influencing skills
- Able to explain financial information in simple terms to non-finance colleagues
