Financial Planning Team Leader – Hampshire
SIGNIFICANT SIX FIGURE BASIC | DISCRETIONARY BONUS | HAMPSHIRE | HYBRID
A genuinely exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's most respected wealth management businesses in a client facing leadership role at their Hampshire office, combining hands-on financial planning with team leadership responsibility.
Our client is looking for an experienced and senior Financial Planner to lead the financial planning function within a well-established regional office, working closely with a strong team of Investment Managers to develop and deliver financial planning advice to existing and new HNW individuals. Alongside your own client-facing work, which will make up the majority of the role, you will provide leadership, oversight, and support to an experienced team of Financial Planners and their supporting staff. This is firmly a player-manager position.
You will be expected to build financial planning revenue from within the existing investment management client base through strong internal relationships with the IM team. The client base is high quality HNW, and the opportunity to generate meaningful financial planning fees is considerable given the scale and depth of the existing client relationships. If you also have the ability to develop external business through professional introducers, this would be very well received.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
