About The Role
At Simplyhealth, we're on a mission to improve access to healthcare for all in the UK. As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you'll play a key role in ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, timely and robust, helping to maintain confidence in our numbers and support informed decision-making across the business.
This is a hands-on accounting role where you'll support month-end close, produce reliable financial information and provide meaningful financial insight to stakeholders across the organisation. Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Commercial Finance and FP&A, you'll help explain performance, identify risks and contribute to high-quality reporting that supports both operational and strategic decisions.
You'll also have the opportunity to improve reporting processes, strengthen financial controls and leverage tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI and Excel to drive efficiencies and enhance financial insight.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Preparing accurate monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Supporting month-end close activities and ensuring financial information is delivered accurately and on time.
- Maintaining a strong financial control environment through robust reconciliations, analytical reviews and issue resolution.
- Producing insightful variance analysis and commentary against budget, forecast and prior year performance.
- Acting as the finance lead for payroll accounting and associated controls and reporting.
- Supporting claims provision calculations and Solvency UK reporting activities.
- Partnering with Finance and operational stakeholders to provide insight, challenge and support effective decision-making.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and planning activities.
- Producing management information, reporting packs and Board-level reporting.
- Supporting year-end reporting, statutory accounts preparation and audit activities.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial reporting processes, controls and data quality.

About You
We're looking for a motivated finance professional who combines strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness and a passion for continuous improvement. You'll enjoy working with data, solving problems and partnering with stakeholders to deliver meaningful financial insight.
To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Have
- A finance qualification, be part-qualified, or actively studying towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience preparing management accounts and supporting month-end close activities.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
- Experience delivering financial analysis and performance reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial results and identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems and reporting tools.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI or similar reporting platforms would be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for improving processes, controls and reporting.

This is an Andover-based role with regular attendance at our Hampshire head office, supported by our smart working approach and flexible remote working arrangements. Some UK travel and overnight stays may occasionally be required.
