Interim Financial Reporting and Controls

An interesting project role at an established Bank based in Central London that can be paid as Inside or Outside IR35. You must have relevant experience in Banking and be a qualified accountant to be considered.
The project is to review the current processes and identify gaps, overlaps, and control weaknesses. You will then develop standard reconciliation templates and controls and be responsible for creating a clear end-to-end framework for account ownership. This includes establishing robust reconciliation procedures, and ensuring buy-in from key stakeholders and departments.

In addition, the role will support the preparation of year-end IFRS statutory accounts.
The Bank have a hybrid working pattern and are looking for you to join in September or October for a period of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Review current reporting and financial control processes.
- Identify gaps in the existing control framework.
- Create and maintain an account ownership register.
- Design an end-to-end account reconciliation process.
- Perform physical reconciliations of accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Design new controls to reduce operational risks.
- Partner with stakeholders across the bank.
- Document workflows and map process changes clearly.
- Provide training and guidance and facilitate workshops across multiple departments.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and act as a main point of contact.
- Drive project buy-in across diverse banking departments.

Skills and Experience Required
- ACA or CA qualification (or equivalent).
- 7+ years of financial control experience.
- Banking experience is essential for this role.
- Experience in year-end IFRS statutory accounts preparation.
- Proven stakeholder management skills at a senior executive level.
- Ability to influence and challenge non-finance teams.
- Can work independently, manage multiple workstreams, and deliver within tight deadlines.
- Available immediately or on a short notice period.
